Safe drivers courses can help reduce your points in NY

Reducing Points and Assessment Fees in Queens & New York

After receiving multiple tickets, many Queens and NYS drivers want to know how to reducing points on their license. If a NYS driver receives 11 points within an 18 month period their license may be suspended. The main way to reduce active points is to complete the Points and Insurance Reduction Program (PIRP). While the program does not remove violations, convictions or the number of points from your driving record, it does allow you to reduce the total number of points used to determine if your license will be suspended. By completing the program and having it verified with New York’s Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) you can reduce the number of points by 4. The authorized PIRP course sponsor will notify the NYS DMV within 10 weeks of your completion of the course. The DMV will then reduce the points calculated to determine if your license will be suspended.
